Michel Wong Kee Song is an entrepreneur, community volunteer and a family man. Born and raised in Vacoas, Mauritius, he was surrounded by many different cultures and developed a passion for the travel industry. He has owned his travel business for over 40 years and has been giving time to his community for even longer. Growing up in a struggling neighborhood, he quickly learned what was important and wanted to help others in need.

In 1988, Michel began his Rotarian journey back in his home country with the Rotary Club of Port-Louis. He was heartened by the club’s mission and joined the Board of Directors a year later. Making Rotary part of his daily life, he chaired various committees, led multiple humanitarian missions overseas and the first Rotary Village Core building was constructed under his leadership.

Michel brought his enthusiasm to Canada when he joined the Rotary Club of Old Montreal in 1993 to continue his charity work. He served as president of his club for two terms (1997-1998, 2015-2016) and was Assistant District Governor for five terms (2004-2007, and 2019-2021). He and his wife, Suzanne, became major donors to the Rotary Foundation. Michel is also a benefactor.

Even as a busy father and businessman, Michel found the time to volunteer on governing school associations, Montreal and Brossard city committees, financial institution administrations, regional health associations and many more non-profit community organizations. With love and professionalism, his charity involvement has spanned from municipal to national levels.

Deserving recognition, Michel was awarded Rotarian of the Year Trophy for his club time and again. Additionally, to name a few, he was awarded the Order of the Star and Key of the Indian Ocean in Mauritius in 2010, received the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2013, and honoured by the City of Brossard Order of Merit along with the Hommage Bénévolat – Québec, both in 2014. Michel hopes to continue serving those around him for many more years to come.

In his personal life, Michel enjoys his daily walks outdoors with his wife, cooking his family’s favorite dishes and sharing a good bottle of red wine around the dinner table with his friends.
